Internet and Mobile Security Awareness Extension Activity

With the heavenly blessings of Sant Baba Dlawar Singh ji (Brahm ji), and with the benign patronage of our Honorable Chancellor, Sant Baba Manmohan Singh ji and under the spirited leadership of our dynamic Vice-Chancellor, Prof.(Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar ji and under the able guidance and support of Registrar Prof (Dr.) Aneet Kumar and Dean Academics Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Dhir and Dean UIET Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Kaur, The department of Computer Science and Engineering, an Extension activity on "Internet and Mobile Security Awareness" was organized at Govt. Senior Secondary School, Daroli Kalan.
Three faculty members from the CSE Department of Sant Baba Bhag Singh University (SBBSU), Jalandhar, along with 18 students, actively participated in the awareness activity. The main focus of the event was to educate school students about safe internet practices and mobile security.
Dilpreet,B.Tech CSE 3rd semester student, commenced the session by introducing the concept of the Internet, discussing its significance in daily life, and the potential risks associated with unsafe usage.
Following this, Er. Manpreet Singh and Er. Neelam Rani, Assistant Professors from the CSE Department, addressed the students on Internet security. They provided valuable insights into various cyber threats like phishing, malware, and data breaches, and shared important tips on safeguarding personal information while using online platforms and mobile devices.
In addition, Gurpreet Singh, the Lab Technician, guided the students on how to operate computers effectively. He provided hands-on instructions, covering basic computer functionalities, making it an informative and practical session for the students.
The extension activity concluded with a motivating address by the head in-charge, Mr. Harminder Singh. He appreciated the efforts of the SBBSU faculty and students for conducting such an informative session and emphasized the importance of being cautious while navigating the digital world. He expressed his desire to have more such awareness programs in the future.
The activity proved to be a significant initiative in promoting cyber safety awareness among young students, empowering them to navigate the internet safely.
